Today is the first day of the celebration of Passover so I picked the Four of Wands for today. After reading the article by Rabbi David Wolpe in the Huffington Post about Passover I though it was applicable to the theme of family, love and celebration. The four of wands tells of a time of happiness, success, joy and peace. The whole family is together and even the four wands join together to form what looks like a chuppah - the tent-like structure that Jews marry under in traditional wedding ceremonies.
I highly recommend Rabbi Wolpe’s article about Passover to anyone, whether you are religious or not, Jewish or not. He talks about the importance of love and not in a sappy, love-your-neighbor way. He talks about the importance of sexual love, familial love, self-love and self-esteem. These are all forms that bring joy and are the building blocks of a stable society and culture.
Without joy there can be no peace, and without peace there can be no growth. We know that without growth there is no love so I think that this Rabbi is on to something and so is the lovely Four of Wands. Fours are about stability and growth, joy and peace, love of family, self and joining with another.
Today is also the full moon so take special care to love one another and yourself…tempers will be short and you can ask yourself: Is biting my tongue in the short term worth keeping the peace and the love for the long term?
Happy Passover and have a great weekend!
Card of the Day: Tower Reversed
I pulled the Tower Reversed for our card of the day…which can sometimes be an unsettling card to see on a random Wednesday morning in April! Except that this was not a random Wednesday morning in April.
Mercury goes direct today and there is going to be illumination in a lot of corners where there was stagnation and darkness. This should be welcome news! Don’t fight whatever constructs may be coming down. That only makes it harder. If you are seeing things in a new way it can be scary but it is ultimately for your greater good so don’t engage in self sabotage. Let the walls come down!
This is the 16th card of the Major Arcana so it is a number 7 card. The 7 is the number of perfection so the Tower indicates that destruction of some kind must occur for this perfection of illumination to come in. Often a false sense of security causes such an upheaval.
The Tower reversed call also signify there is someone else involved and this really makes sense for the astrological state we are in…communications are commencing so there may be information coming in that other people aren’t happy to hear. There may be information you aren’t happy to hear. At least initially. Even so-called “good” information can bring the walls down - such as moving or switching jobs. It can be difficult for us humans to tolerate change but the Tower says jump out of that burning building before it falls on top of you!
Justin Volz was born in Houston, TX, where there are no tumbleweeds, unfortunately.
This reminds me of the Empress in Tarot…beautiful.
3 Best Practices for Clearing Energy and Tension in Relationships
If you aren’t ready to have “that” talk with a co-worker or friend because you aren’t certain of the issues yet or just don’t feel like the timing is right there are still things you can do to heal the relationship. Check out this video and find out!
Oh Oscar…I have a very soft spot in my heart for Oscar Wilde. It is a very little known fact that he was at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland at the same time as Bram Stoker. Bram was a few years older and stole his fiance! What a bad boy!! They were both in the closet at the time…and Bram never came out. Which is why I think Dracula was and is, such the hit. Stoker put all of his passions into that one tome.
There were so many triangulations in that book but I posit (and so do his biographers) that his first was with Oscar Wilde. There is a passage in Dracula describing the vampire as he expired that is almost exactly the description of Oscar Wilde’s white hair and pale face as he began to age prematurely in jail where he was put for “sodomy.” It is a waste that such a talent rotted away for nothing more than the ignorance and fears of man…and in many ways Stoker rotted in much the same way in a jail of his own making.
Nonetheless this quote by Oscar Wilde is reminding me of the Star in the Tarot’s Major Arcana. I’m going to post on that next in honor of Oscar.
hi! Recently I purchased my own set of Karmic Tarot Cards and i'm curious upon whether or not I can take these cards outside my home and bring them into another environment such as my school or a friend's home. I heard it's not good to take Tarot cards outside of your reading area because the energies will become mixed perhaps due to change of environment. Thanks in advance!
Hi! Congratulations on getting your own set of cards!! My favorite rule about Tarot is that there are no rules! ;-) While each card has some basic meanings that are helpful to learn initially - the wonderful thing is that as your intuition grows with each reading you will develop an understanding of your own and find that you read cards your own beautiful way. Your way is the right way…!
I have found that the less “should” and “have to” the better as those directives are usually motivated by fear and worry rather than love and freedom. The more fun you can have the better and where there is fear there is no fun!
Just for a reference point I carried my first deck everywhere…I bought a pouch for it so the cards were protected from getting scratched and folded up. Then I recently purchased a mini travel deck so it was easier to carry around. I never leave my house without a deck. I use them to ask about traffic, what to buy etc. For pretty much everything. I use the pouches just for cosmetic reasons - not for any energetic reason. I will say that I dedicated the cards to the Light and I have personally dedicated myself to the Light - something I learned about doing recently and was moved to do. I say go with what you are moved to do when it comes to spiritual matters … Being motivated by love and light and not by worry or fear.
I hope you learn wonderful things on your journey and have a lot of fun at the same time …
My care is like my shadow in the sun, Follows me flying, flies when I pursue it, Stands and lies by me, doth what I have done. His too familiar care doth make me rue it. No means I find to rid him from my breast, Till by the end of things it be supprest. Some gentler passion slide into my mind, For I am soft and made of melting snow; Or be more cruel, love, and so be kind. Let me or float or sink, be high or low. Or let me live with some more sweet content, Or die and so forget what love ere meant.
Welcome to Le Tarot! Whether you have studied Tarot for years, or have never had a reading, I'm so happy you have stopped by!
I love connecting with people from the Tarot community so please comment on postsand relate it to something you are working on...let's really create a strong Tarot community here on Tumblr!
I'd love for this to be a place everyone joins together to engage about card meanings, to share spreads they found or developed, to comment on books they've read and more!
If you are new to Tarot, then feel free to ask as many questions as you like about what cards mean, which decks to buy and anything else you can think of! I don't usually answer questions of a personal nature (like - will I get the job?! etc.). The complexity involved in answering these questions prevents me from doing so in this format, but you can always set up a reading with me and I'm able to go into detail then.
Otherwise I love answering questions on the blog so send me questions! I'm sure the rest of the community will start to chime in as well and that is when it will really get good!
So I welcome you to participate in the
Le Tarot community in whatever way is comfortable for you! Leave comments, ask questions, visit my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/letarot, do your own readings or call to schedule a special reading with me (hero's path/life path). There is no right way play!
